I have an idea that a true artist might realise that they are the one just ‘holding the brush’. Or the pen. Or the idea.
I recently had a conversation with Louis, who it seems paints like I believe I make films. And so we agreed to an experiment. I would attempt to make a short film using his paintings, alongside my words and guitar. But of course it might be wise to ignore the words ‘his and my’.
I am not sure entirely how to go about this. It can’t be any stranger than the making of ‘a window to the soul’.
I’ll probably interview them, the paintings that is. And see what comes up. But this time I can play the guitar (*) during the interview without the danger of seeming impolite. But there does exist a distinct and possibly embarrassing danger that they might not talk back. Or if they do, that I might not be listening.
Unsure exactly when I’ll make this film. But you’ll be the first to know.

* someone did actually once ask me whether I played guitar throughout the ‘discussions’. They had this notion that it was all done in one shot. An interesting idea that I haven’t yet discounted.
